Results have generally been positive in pre-season but this match promises to be an acid test to show where they really stand. Watch: Get ready for the Supercup! Match stats Last year's eight-goal Supercup was the highest-scoring fixture in the history of the competition. There were eight different players on the scoresheet, too. Bayern could win the Supercup for a fourth successive year, something no side has ever managed before. The last time the reigning DFB Cup winners won the Supercup was back in 2015, when Wolfsburg beat Bayern on penalties. There has only ever been one goalless draw in Supercup histroy, when Schalke and Borussia Dortmund cancelled each other out in 2011, before the Royal Blues won on penalties.

Of the fresh faces, only Guerreiro will miss out this weekend as he continues to recover from a calf issue suffered earlier in pre-season, as will stallwart club captain Manuel Neuer. Thomas Müller and Eric Maxim Choup-Moting were also expected to remain on the sidelines after injury but Thomas Tuchel revealed in his pre-match press conferences that both could now feature in some capacity. Despite those absentees, Tuchel has plenty of star quality to choose from, including Golden Boy favourite Jamal Musiala after his goal clinched an 11th consecutive Meisterschale in May. He and his teammates will be eager to lay down a marker ahead of the new Bundesliga campaign. There has been plenty of transfer movement in Leipzig over the summer too, with Laimer, Christopher Nkunku, Dominik Szoboszlai, Josko Gvardiol and Marcel Halstenberg all leaving, but Christoph Baumgartner, El Chadaille Bitshiabu, Fabio Carvalho, Lois Openda and Xavi Simons arriving to give Marco Rose's side plenty of attacking power.
