AS FAR AS WILI SOLO KNOWS THE SKY IS BLUE
The Copenhagen-based alternative R&B-talent bends the truth on his debut album, 'As Far As We Know The Sky Is Blue'. The 11 tracks embody a confident vulnerability necessary for the artist to come to an acceptance of the concept of self-love.
The album is out today along with the gloomy yet aesthetic music video for the new single, ‘Feels’!
There’s a symbolic ambiguity in the title of Wili Solo’s debut album. ‘As Far As We Know The Sky Is Blue’ encapsulates personal progress – an emotional journey from chaos, doubt and decay to regained strength, confidence and, ultimately, a renewed belief in the real truth of who you once were to who you are now.
"It is neither selfish nor arrogant to love, trust and believe in yourself. On the contrary, it’s an important life skill that can be impossible to embrace when your reality is ruled by external emotions. In many ways, these songs, both through the lyrics and the music, represent the vulnerable human being. But also, an acceptance of where you are in life, in order to move on. As far as we know the sky is blue... But a truth is only a truth ‘till we bend it," Wili Solo says about an album that has ended up breaking down barriers to him on multiple levels.
The lead single, ‘Feels’, cements the liberation as Wili Solo’s angsty falsetto is overpowered by the uncompromising energy of the chorus. The emotions reflected in the song are brought to life in the gloomy, aesthetic music video directed, filmed and edited by Sebastian Solkaer and Anders Mørch.
‘As Far As We Know The Sky Is Blue’ follows the widely acclaimed debut single, ‘Stainless’. The song’s spherical soundscape with a heavy hip-hop beat and notes of alternative R&B was highlighted by leading media outlets such as Soundvenue (DK), COLORS (DE), Ones To Watch (US) and CRACK Magazine (UK). The debut album is created in collaboration with Mikkel Kjær and Jens Rønne (Selma Judith, Tamara, Mercedess and others) embodying the creative output of Wili Solo.
