London-based artist Cormac Todd announces his debut single ‘Lifeboat’ in partnership with sparky upcomer MACAQ. This electropop offering is the first of a four-part series titled ‘The Village series’, with further instalments lined up in the coming months. This track is executively produced by Grammy winner Pete Smith (The Police, Duran Duran, Stevie Wonder).
Hailing from Ireland, Cormac’s empathetic and expressive songwriting, inspired by the likes of Joni Mitchell, Kate Bush and Taylor Swift, meets the moment to meld with MACAQ’s signature electropop spark to produce a fresh, uniquely positioned sound with the potential to cut through the noise. The track is complemented by Cormac’s Irish lilt, which helps carry the listener through a personal journey that explores universal themes such as support, friendship and unconditional love.
“This project came from so much love and a desire to express this to a very close friend in their time of need, a sentiment I hope the listener can take comfort in too”, Cormac explains. “I wrote it at home in Ireland and the song carries these roots in every beat and melody.”
MACAQ comments. “When Pete and Cormac introduced the idea for this song to me, I knew I had to be involved. Cormac’s writing manages to feel like both an excerpt from a personal diary and universal at the same time…”
