As summer 2024 begins, rising British electropop star Sophie and the Giants is sure to be a name to keep an ear out for with her brand new, utterly addictive single “Shut Up And Dance” which is out via Polydor.

“Shut Up And Dance” isn’t just good advice when you’re going out, it’s possibly one of your soundtracks of the summer. Speaking about the anthem’s kinetic power, songwriter & vocalist Sophie Scott explains “I wrote this song to help people feel alive by demanding they get up onto their feet and move their body.”
Staines-born Sophie And The Giants forged her project in Sheffield, mainly as an outlet to practice music, but quickly became something much more. That initial outlet to practicing turned into a project that has already amassed over one billion global streams to date, alongside slots at some of the country’s most prestigious festival stages like Glastonbury, and Reading & Leeds Festivals. At press she’s been championed by the likes of The Line Of Best Fit, Clash & NME. On the airwaves, there’s been great support from BBC Radio 1 where she can call Clara Amfo, Jack Saunders, and Mollie King fans amongst others.
Sophie And The Giants has also been a revelation on mainland Europe on dancefloors and playlists alike. One hit “In The Dark” has reached platinum status in Italy, Switzerland, Austria, Poland and France. It’s also already passed gold status in Germany, Netherlands, Finland & Belgium. Another hit, “Hypnotized” has done even better, gaining diamond status in France, platinum 5x in Italy, 3x in Poland & Italy, Germany, and 2x in Austria.
Sophie Scott cites a wide range of influences that includes Blondie, PJ Harvey and Alanis Morrissette to Caroline Polachek, Siouxsie and Radiohead.
